Lakeview Police Officer of the Year: Officer David Brinson

Officer Brinson brings an extensive medical and firearms background from 4 combat deployments in both Iraq and Afghanistan in United States Marine Corps. He built these skills during his military career as he conducted counter improvised explosive device (CIED) sweeps, installed counter sniper observation netting, anti-vehicle ditches, and wire obstacles that directly affected the ability of Marine Special Operations Personal to carry out mission critical to stability operations. He rose as leader directing and coordinating Marine detachments achieved Combat Engineer Platoon Sergeant directly responsible for 34 Marines. He earned a number of certifications including TCOLE Basic and Firearms Instructor, Glock Armorer and Instructor Certification, and was decorated with a Navy Accommodation Metal for actions following an aircraft and vehicle collision.

After concluding his military service, Officer Brinson’s skills naturally translated to becoming a peace officer. Both his medical and firearm training have benefitted the communities he served, first in the Pasadena Police Department and now in his 3rd year with the Lakeview Police Department protecting the citizens of El Lago and Taylor Lake Village under Police Chief Carl Nunn.

He is being recognized for his impact on the Lakeview Police Department by taking several leadership roles in 2022 including serving as Rangemaster and Department Firearms Instructor. In this role he went above and beyond to rewrite Firearm Policy and Training documentation and then deployed it among officers to ensure the both police and citizens were protected with the most updated operating procedures. He paired this work with selfless service to his fellow officers with routine firearm equipment evaluation for proper functionality.

He is also being recognized for his direct impact on the community in 2022 for his response to both a medical emergency ahead of EMS in Taylor Lake Village and entering a fire structure ahead of SBFD in El Lago to clear the building. In both cases, his quick action secured victims and provided transition to EMS then took over managing the scenes to closure.

OFFICER BRINSON, AGAIN, IT IS AN HONOR ON BEHALF OF SEABROOK ROTARY TO PRESENT THIS AWARD AND A CHECK FOR $1,000.
